Victor is survived by his wife, Helga, and three children, Rachel, Justin, and Crystal as well as his grandson Kai. He also leaves behind three siblings, Margo, Terrell, and Carmen, and many nieces and nephews.
Victor loved to travel and spent his high school years in Germany, then returned to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force. It was during this time that he met his wife, Helga, to whom he would remain devoted to during their 42 years of marriage.
After his time in the Air Force, Victor continued to do work he loved building and flying helicopters. He retired in 2020 after four decades in aviation as a Flight Line Crew Chief at Boeing, where he was a well-respected boss and mentor who spent his time making sure that Apache helicopters were built to the highest safety standards. He later volunteered to serve again as part of Operation Enduring Freedom and also spent two years training our allies in Japan.
A natural storyteller, Victor could talk to anyone and often ended up with new friends; he will be missed all over the world including in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and South America. Throughout his travels, he was always happy to return home, where he had created a life that he loved. He was exceptionally proud of his family, and to know Victor was to know how much he cared for his wife and children. When he wasn’t spending time with them he could be found on the golf course or cheering his favorite Atlanta sports teams.
When asked what was on his “bucket list,” Victor said that he didn’t have one because he had already done everything that he wanted in life. He was truly one of a kind and to many was considered a legend. Victor will be missed greatly, but his family takes comfort in knowing that his life was well lived and filled with love.
A service of remembrance will take place at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park in Mesa, AZ on Friday, January 10, at 1 pm.
