RUWWE, Vernon R. , 90, USAF Retired, passed away on Dec 16, 2014. Vern was born in Cuba, MO in the Ozark mountains of southern Missouri, attended a one room school, joined the military during WW II and served his country in Germany, Guam, France and various locations in the U.S.A. After twenty years of service he, along with his wife Mary Ann and daughter Jan retired to Durango,CO to become very successful in business and real estate. He was a true patriot, avid sportsman, loving father and grandparent and devoted husband. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Anna Ruwwe, his brother Forest Ruwwe, and his wife of 43 years, Mary Ann Sampson Ruwwe. He is survived by his wife of 21years, Valerie Sullivan-Ruwwe of Gold Canyon, AZ, his daughter Jan and son-in-law Bruce Young, granddaughter Angela and husband Larry Boss, great-granddaughter Kaylee Ann, and great-grandsons Hunter and Logan, all of the Kansas City area and stepsons Gregg and Jeff Sullivan of Minneapolis, MN and S. Smyrna Beach, FL and grandsons Brandon and Josh. A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Saturday, January 3, 2015, 11:00 am at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care, 6747 E. Broadway Road, Mesa, AZ 85206. Contributions can be made in Vern's name to Hospice of the Valley, Lund Home, 1982 E. Woodside Court, Gilbert, AZ 85297.
