He impressed anyone who knew him with his wit, astounding intellect, sense of humor and always being sharply dressed. Vernon was very competitive and endeavored to win at anything he participated in. He loved to play softball, tennis and was an avid golfer. His enthusiasm for life was contagious. He was the Planning Commissioner for the City of Carlsbad, CA and had a deep passion for political history and government. Vernon was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was instrumental in bringing the gospel to many.
Some of Vernon’s greatest accomplishments were within the walls of his own home. Vernon was a natural and captivating teacher and mentor to many. His children, grandchildren, and great-grand children will be eternally blessed by his wisdom and the many truths he taught. We will miss his advice, competitiveness and deep love of family and friends. We are comforted by the knowledge that families are forever.
