He passed peacefully after a battle with liver cancer and dementia.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Ann (Hof) Monaco; his son, Tim Monaco and
wife Bernadette; daughter, Jennifer Shanahan and husband, Matt; granddaughter, Cullen
Monaco; grandson, Aidan Shanahan; his sister, Francis Marie Birdseye and husband George;
and friends.
Tom was born in El Paso, Texas on April 22,1945 and is the son of Antone Joseph Monaco and
Francis H. Reza. He was raised in El Paso and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1963.
He later attended Texas A&M and University of Texas at El Paso.
Tom Monaco was a 33rd degree Mason at Montezuma Lodge #1 and a member of the Scottish
Rite in Santa Fe, New Mexico. During his life he met many friends and made a lifelong career in
the manufactured housing business and served his industry proudly. He was very known and
respected in his community and upon retiring in Santa Fe, New Mexico he and his wife traveled
in the motorhome and relocated to Mesa, Arizona to live their golden years.
Tom Monaco was known for his love of his wife, Barabara, and his family, who will greatly miss
him.
Thomas Monaco’s services will be held at St. George’s Catholic Church. There will be a rosary
Thursday, September 21, 2023 at 10:30 am with a service from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm. Following
the service will be a reception at the Sunland Springs Village - Community Complex Recreation
Center in the Superstition Room.
