Terry P. Koehn, Sr. passed away on July 9, 2013 in Mesa, Arizona. Born in Newark, New Jersey to Henry “Whitey” and Virginia “Ginny” (nee Faurot) Koehn, Terry arrived on January 2, 1937. Serving his country proudly, Terry enlisted in the Army during World War II. His tour included being stationed in Germany in 1961. After Terry’s time in the service, he worked as an ironworker, bending steel with his hands. After retiring from ironwork, he spent the remainder of his career captaining a charter boat for deep sea fishers. This brought him so much joy. Terry reveled being on the water.
Spending over 40 years with the love of his life, Lynn, was the highlight of Terry’s life. When his children, Donna and Terry Jr., came along their family was complete. A very generous man, Terry always made sure his family was cared for. Having a tough front, Terry gently and quietly showed his love for them. He did soften up later in his life. His love for his family was continuous and unconditional. When his grandchildren came along, he couldn’t have been happier. Terry made it easy for his family to talk to him about anything, he was a true confidant and wonderful example to those who love him.
Being physically fit was important to Terry. Working out was fun for him, and he did it regularly. Sports and news were part of Terry’s daily routine. Whether it was baseball, basketball, or football, he loved watching sports. Having a green thumb, Terry did all of his own landscaping. Roses were his specialty, and he excelled at growing them. Enjoying alone time, Terry was comfortable with going to the movies, to dinner, and the casino by himself. He was a well-rounded man that could get along with anyone.
He will forever be missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Michael Darner, his grandchildren Hunter Darner, Kaitlyn Zieglar, and Alyssa Koehn, sister and brother-in-law Judy and Dick Nauss, nephews Brian Nauss, and Paul Nauss, and his beloved cat Elvis. Preceding him in death are his parents Henry and Virginia Koehn, wife Lynn Koehn, and son Terry Koehn, Jr. Services are private. Arrangements are entrusted to Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park & Funeral Care 6747 East Broadway Road Mesa, Arizona 85206 (480) 830-4422.
