While growing up in Beloit, Wisconsin, she had the privilege of growing up around wonderful parents (Reinhardt Fick and Hulda Degner Fick) and her sister, Carolyn. To make life even better, she had Aunt Mart and Uncle Bill Schoepske that considered Carolyn and Sarah their daughters, too. They lived only two houses away and they were the apple of their eye. They showered them with love and devotion.
As she grew up, she would spend most of her summers with her grandparents and extended family. They lived on farms and she learned to work hard. Her aunts and uncles looked after her. After the work was done, there was always something fun to do. Sarah especially loved to fish and be outdoors with her family.
When Sarah was 19 she met Robert Boschi, and from that first day she met him, she knew he was the one for her. They were married on September 9, 1950.
While Bob was in the Marines, Sarah moved with Bob to Washington and then on to California. California was where their oldest daughter, Roberta was born. They purchased and lived in a 27 foot "Cozy Cruiser" Trailer along with another couple, their baby and a parakeet. It was crowded to say the least.
When Bob was transferred by the Marines to Quantico, Virginia, Sarah and baby moved back to Beloit, Wisconsin with her parents. When Bob was discharged they bought a house in Beloit which was only two doors away from Bob's folks. Virginia was born next, then Dennis.
When the children were born Sarah looked into a part time job and eventually sold Tupperware. When she started out she wasn't sure that she would do well, but Bob said all she had to do was go door to door around the neighborhood and she could book some parties that way. Because she is so outgoing, she booked 8 parties that very afternoon. When she resigned from Tupperware she had 42 parties booked in advance.
As the years went by Sarah's time was filled with her family and church work. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked very hard at everything she was asked to do. If she was supposed to bring bread to a bake sale for the church, Sarah would make 20 to 40 loaves of bread for the sale. She never did anything in a small way.
Genealogy has always been one of Sarah's passions. She has enjoyed researching her ancestors and keeping up with relatives. She completed two genealogy books about her Fick and Degner family.
In the 1960's, Sarah was looking for a hobby. She wanted something to be her community project. Bob and Sarah bought a small child care center that met in a church. Six children attended the first day. From that small beginning became "Teaching Centers", a Milwaukee area based company that had 20 child care centers with 3,500 children enrolled. Because Sarah and Bob had a desire to provide quality care to children, they developed a reputation for excellence in Wisconsin and throughout the country. Sarah was in charge of the teaching program and she wanted to make sure that each teacher was provided ample materials to be effective.
Sarah and Bob were always very supportive of their children and grandchildren. As her children grew and had children of their own, Sarah made a special trip with each grandchild to Disney World. She always wanted to have that special memory with them. The grandchildren loved that especially since Grandma enjoyed the rides as much as they did.
Bob and Sarah retired to Mesa, Arizona in the 1980s. They enjoyed their retirement years by traveling throughout the world, seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Sarah is loved by all. While living in Mesa, they continued to help those in need, keep up and stay close to their friends and family.
In their later years, Bob and Sarah made sure they stay connected with all the grandchildren, and even the great-grandchildren through visits and phone calls. Sarah was an avid watcher on her social media accounts and she always gave great comments on every family post.
Sarah is preceded in death by her parents, Reinhardt Fick and Hulda Degner Fick, and her husband, Robert Boschi. She is also preceded by her husband’s brother Al Boschi, and his wife Bea. She is survived by her children: Bobbie (Don) Denhof, Ginger Staral, Dennis (Jana) Boschi, and her foster daughter Nancy (Steve) Steele, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
