Sam’s many accomplishments in sports started at an early age, with Soccer, Basketball, Football, Wrestling and a black belt in Karate. But his true passion became Baseball.
Some of his best baseball moments include the walk off homerun to win the 2010 RMALL All Star AZ District 7 Championship and lettering as a Freshman on the Red Mountain HS Varsity Baseball team.
Adventures included snowboarding, cliff jumping, hiking, fishing, hunting and traveling.
Sam never missed an opportunity to crack a joke, do a foreign accent, quote a movie, do a little dance, or sing a little song but most of all, make others around him smile.
Other notable achievements include Boy Scouts, a long standing weight lifting record at Fremont JR High and playing catcher for The Crush club ball team helping with many tournament wins.
Recently graduating from Red Mountain High School in 2017 he attended his first year of college at Yavapai College playing fall baseball.
Sam enjoyed working hard, creating beautiful landscapes with his Dad Brian and one day hoped to continue the business as his own.
Samuel is survived by his parents Brian and Randee Berry, brothers Jacob and Nikolas Berry and sister Amy Van Capelle; grandmothers Sandi Nikula and Norene Berry and grandfathers Arnold Nikula and Kent Berry; nieces Tatum, Charlotte and Aubry Berry and nephews Cowan and Cooper Berry and Greyson Van Capelle; sweetheart, Taelin Averett.
Some of his hobbies included collecting classic vinyl records, writing stories and poetry and entertaining friends.
His favorite places to travel included Oceanside, California, Flagstaff’s Snowbowl, Saguaro Lake, Fossil Creek and anywhere water flowed.
Friends and family can pay their respects at a viewing on Friday, June 15 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m and Saturday, June 16 at 9:00 a.m at the LDS Church at 7752 E. McDowell Rd. Mesa.
The memorial service will follow Saturday’s viewing at 10:00 a.m. at the same location.
A celebration of his life will be later that evening, 7:00 p.m. at Casa de Berry, 3004 N. 80th St., Mesa. Funeral home is Mariposa Gardens in Mesa.
