He was born December 20th, 1966 in Prescott Arizona to Donald and Melba Covey he was the youngest of three siblings. His passion as a child was sports and entertainment with others. This carried on to his adult years along with helping children. He made a mark everywhere he went with a smile. He will be sorely missed and remember lovingly as someone who could always make you laugh, was the life of the party, and a true inspiration.
Sam attended many universities in Arizona starting with Yavapai College where he earned an Associates in General Education. He continued his schooling U of A graduating in 2001 with a Bachelors of Arts. He then attended NAU where he obtained his Master’s in Education 2004 and in 2005 he received his teaching certificate from Rio Salado. Sam started his teaching career at Desert Ridge Junior High, where he shared his passion in education for the past 15 years.
Sam is survived by his brother Donald Ray Covey of Chino Valley, Arizona; Niece Trenna Covey from Parks, Arizona; Nephew Justin Matthews of North Bend, Washington; Numerous great nephews and nieces, and one Great-great niece. Preceded in death by his father Donald Covey & Mother Melba Covey of Prescott, Arizona, and Sister Deborah Matthews of North Bend Washington.
Memorial services will be held Saturday March 24th 2018, at 3 p.m. at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park 6747 East Broadway Road Mesa Arizona 85206. Melanie Bradesku officiating. The Covey family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at Desert Ridge Junior High School specifically Melanie Bradesku and Jean Woods for the attentiveness and care they showed Sam during the past few weeks.
