He attended Washington Senior High School and the University of South Dakota in Vermilion. After graduating from USD, he spent the next 50 years as a financial planner. He started his successful career in Omaha, Nebraska then moved to Des Moines, Iowa and moved to Phoenix, Arizona with his family in 1985.
He became certified as a Chartered Life Underwriter as well as a Chartered Financial Consultant, of which he was very proud.
He very much enjoyed playing tennis for more than 30 yrs until a stroke made it impossible to continue. There wasn’t a joke that he didn’t remember and tell to anyone who was willing to listen. Being a faithful Christian was very important to him, along with being with his family.
He is survived by his wife Joyce of 50 yrs and 2 sons Damian and Travis, brother Curt (Nancy) Haggar, In-laws Shirley Larson, Harley (Diane) Albers, Darlene (Ronald) Peters, Richard Pforr and numerous nieces and nephews and good friends.
He is predeceased by his parents, Nathan and Ruth Haggar and sister Sue Pforr. In-laws Lyle Albers, Phyllis Oakland.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am, on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at the Arizona Community Church: G Building, 9325 South Rural Road, Tempe, Arizona 85284.
