Romeo Canez Celaya

Romeo Canez Celaya, 75, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2024 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family in Phoenix, AZ. Romeo will have a rosary and wake on Wednesday, June 12th at Lakeshore Mortuary in Mesa, AZ at 5:30PM. Mass in his honor will be held on Thursday, June 13th at the All Saints Newman Center in Tempe, AZ at 10AM. Burial and Veterans services to follow at Green Acres Cemetery in Scottsdale, Arizona at 11:45AM.

Romeo Canez Celaya was born on April 16, 1949 in Ajo, Arizona to Romeo and Emma Celaya. He served honorably in the US Army, after completing his military service he earned his Bachelor's in Business from Arizona State University and then married his wife Cecilia in June of 1977. Romeo worked in the surety bond industry for many years with several companies before retiring in 2011.

Romeo was devoted to his family and enjoyed the simple pleasures of a shared Sunday morning breakfast and time spent together at home as a family. He loved all things Arizona State University and was a faithful Sun Devil sports fan including attending the Rose Bowl in 1997 and supporting the football and basketball teams each season in person when he could.

Romeo is survived by his wife Cecilia, sons Luis and Brandon, mother Emma, sister Idolina, brother in law Alvin, niece Charyece and grand nephew Brice.
