Rick Lee Blumenthal

2/22/1950 - 3/17/2022

Rick Blumenthal was a proud father and grandfather, loving brother and faithful friend

who went home to be with his Lord and Savior while living in Mesa, Arizona.

Rick was born in Denver, Colorado to Willard and Janet (Jansen) Blumenthal, the

younger brother to Bonnie and Cathy.

After attending Arvada High School, Rick served in the army for 4 years, stationed the

majority of his enlistment in Germany. He went on to operate his own business,

Liberty Building and Remodel for years before earning, with honors, a Bachelor’s

Degree in education and a Masters Degree in Spanish. This served him well as a

passionate Spanish teacher at Bear Creek Middle School, where he taught until

retirement; and over the years he maintained a steadfast bond with many of his

students.

Rick enthralled a crowd, with his bigger than life presence and captivating stories! He

was fun loving, enthusiastic, and always up for a fast take off - in his mustang. Rick

was the person you wanted in your corner when in a crisis, always willing and selfless

in helping others in need.

Rick lived out his childhood dream being a horseman, and for years, he owned and

trained Spanish Mustangs-which he later joked he traded in for his Ford Mustang.

Rick had an undeniable passion for Scripture and serving the Lord. His journey of

service included running a boys home in Kansas, helping missionaries in Alaska, and

preaching at the Rescue Mission in Denver, to name a few. He concluded his service to

the Lord as an usher at Redeemer Bible Church in Arizona where he was lovingly

known for his shepherd’s heart. Rick loved studying The Word and owned his own

personal library of thousands of books. He was a man of service to others, a friend to

everybody, an incredible example of loving others for Christ- John 15:13. While

heaven has gained a saint - Psalm 116:15 - we feel the loss of an advocate who had

an immense capacity of love and concern for others' eternal wellness.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Willard C Blumenthal (1965) and mother,

Janet Atherton (2011) and his great-nephew, Zachary Humphries (2009). Rick is

survived by his children, Michael Blumenthal and Rebecca Blair (Nathan) and

grandchildren- Kayla, Zachary, Elijah and Abigail Blair. Rick is also survived by his

sisters Bonnie & Marv Crites and Cathy Dalpes, and a large extended family of cherished

nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
