Richard I. Governo passed away June 6, 2020, the day before his 83rd birthday. Richard was born in Ambridge, Pennsylvania on June 7, 1937 to Anthony and Christine (Bajt) Governo. When his father passed away, his mother moved to Blissfield, Michigan with her 4 boys.
He graduated from Blissfield High School in 1955 and in July 1956 he joined the Marines with 7 of his high school buddies.
After leaving the Marines, he moved back to Blissfield and started an apprenticeship as a tool and die maker. He worked in several die shops perfecting his trade. On April 22, 1961, he married Judith Bierley, they have 4 children, Darla Feasel (Billy) of Findlay, Ohio, Deanna Funderburk (Rick) of Queen Creek, Arizona, Darrin Governo of Mesa, Arizona and Jason Governo of Mesa, Arizona. He also has 11 grandchildren.
In 1972 he bought a farm and raised his children there. The kids loved raising multiple animals for 4-H. In the late 1970's Richard and his brothers bought a tool and die shop in Tecumseh, Michigan and named it Pegasus Mold and Die. In 1981 he sold his share and moved to Arizona with 4 children. In Arizona he got his Real Estate license and sold new homes until the market went down. He then returned to Michigan and got a job as a die maker for FORD Motor Company. Upon retiring he returned to Arizona. Richard was a great provider for his family. Besides his children, he is survived by his wife, Judy brothers; Anthony (Jack) Governo and William (Bill) Governo. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Carmen (Bud) Governo.
