I just came across this site by accident and was shocked to hear of a good friend's passing. I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Rick at Telesat. Ironically, our paths crossed again when I moved to AZ. We always meant to get together, but never got the chance. He was an extremely good man and a complete pleasure to have known him. My deepest condolences to his family.

As so many people have written, there are not enough words.  They say time heals all wounds, this one cuts extremely deep. However knowing Rick, he would find a positive in it somewhere.
Your family has been a huge influence in my, and my families life, and we cannot thank you enough.
Not a day goes by that our thoughts and prayers are not with you...forever!  Our deepest and most sincere condolences.

 Words can't even begin to express how deeply saddened we are for your loss. Losing Rick has not only affected John, but our entire family. It is with great sadness we heard the news of Ricks passing to-day. Rick was a great high school buddy and a true friend through the teen years and to this day. The news of Rick’s passing shocked and saddened both of us. I had the pleasure of working with Rick at Telesat, his easygoing nature and fairness helped make it one of the best times in my career. Josee still remembers the first time she met both of you, just before you moved to Edmonton. It’s hard to believe how the years have flown by. It’s great to see all the pictures and know that Rick continued with the things he loved to do, hockey, the outdoors and being with friends and family. We are thinking of you and can only appreciate what a huge void this has created for you.

Rick will be greatly missed, but he will remain in our hearts as being a great sport.  He used to talk about his love for his family and his love for hockey. Good times were to be had when working on-site at Motorola. Diane and boys remember all the fond memories as will his friends.

It doesn't seem all that long ago when we met and enjoyed all that Calgary had to offer, 2 bachelors with the world at our doorstep. Over the years I appreciated what a special person Rick was. Every get together was an adventure. He really loved you guys. He was taken too soon and I shall miss him dearly. I wish you peace and the inner strength to see you through this tough time. Dear Diane, Justin and Josh...

I heard of and am deeply saddened by the news of Rick’s passing and offer you my most sincere and deeply heartfelt condolences.  I am so very sorry.  This must be quite difficult for you and your family.  Please remember that even now you are all in my thoughts and my prayers.  I wish you love.

Through the years that I knew Rick as a “Hockey Dad” I found him to be a man of singular character who lived by and chose his morality, his fidelity and his unconditional love for his family as his most important task…and also his greatest reward...right up there with a nifty backhand shot that beats the goalie up top!!!

Regardless of the various eccentricities any two people bring to a relationship I always saw an endearing quality that you and Rick shared and I will always admire and think highly of what you two accomplished as people…as a couple…and as parents.

I will always remember Rick with great memories. Especially the two weeks I spent canoeing with him and his friends in the North Bay Lake Region. Rick, hot peppers don't go well with oat meal.

I was very saddened to hear about Rick's death.  I still find it very hard to believe.  Rick was my best friend, sharing lots of great times together, which I will cherish the rest of my life, especially our canoe trips up North. You will always be in my thoughts.

I was saddened to hear the news.....Rick was as involved as one could be sharing his love of the sport he loved with his sons. It was a pleasure knowing and working alongside Rick in the tight knit "hockey world". Rest in Peace my friend.
