Richard Allen Chew

His earlier years were spent in Oregon. He graduated from Gold Beach Union High School, Gold Beach Oregon in 1954. He furthered his education by obtaining a BS in Industrial Engineering and Management from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Plus a MS in Statistics. Later he received his MBA from Western New England College.

He married Barbara Ann Houston on August 9, 1964 in Bristow, Oklahoma.

Richard worked for the United States AIr Force for 47 years (20 military / 27 civil service). He held numerous jobs through the years - Language Specialist, Contracting Officer, Industrial Engineer, Contracting Systems Specialist, etc. During his free time he enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading mysteries, and traveling.

He loved God, Country, family and friends as he moved 11 times (Lackland AFB Texas, Rhein - Main Germany, Stillwater Oklahoma, Brookley AFB Alabama, Stillwater Oklahoma, Greenville South Carolina, Miami Florida, Udorn Thailand, Hanscom AFB Massachusetts, Ramstein Germany, Hickam AFB Hawaii. He enjoyed the beautiful locations.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents: George Elsworth Chew / Ida Irl Traywick Chew and brother John Arthur Chew.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Houston, Sons: Michael Allen Chew (Kathy) Nashua NH, Christopher Leigh Chew (Nancy) Ashby MA. Grandson: Caleb Richard Chew; Granddaughters: Emma Marie Chew, Sophie Anne Chew, Emily Anne Piper Chew. Siblings: Doris Arlene Hopkins (John Michael) Phoenix AZ, George Thomas Chew (Mary) Berryville AR, Harold David Chew (Veronica) Derby KS; Numerous Nieces and Nephews.

A memorial service for Richard will be held Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at HiWay Baptist Church, 10505 E Brown Rd, Mesa, AZ 85207.
