Raymond was born to Antoinette Emilie Emond (Paulhus) and Adelard Raymond Emond on May 6, 1935 in Providence, Rhode Island. After graduating high school from the LaSalle Academy in Providence, Rhode Island in 1953, he attended the University of Rhode Island until 1954. Raymond then enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a Sonarman from 1954 to 1958. His service included a tour on the USS Lewis Hancock, a fletcher class destroyer.
After departing the Navy, he moved to California and worked for US Rubber during part of 1959 and 1960. In 1960 he took a job with State Farm Insurance and stayed with the company for 37 years, achieving the position of Underwriting/Operations Supervisor. He retired from State Farm in 1997.
Throughout his adult life he participated in and supported multiple religious and public service organizations including, the Society for St. Vincent De Paul and the Knights of Columbus. He also served as a volunteer for the Tempe Police Department. He was an active member of Resurrection Catholic Church and served as Parish Council President from 1976 to 1978.
He is survived by Mary Ann Emond (Wherry), his wife of nearly 63 years, and his three adult children Pamela Lynn McCahill (Emond), Bryan Raymond Emond, and Cheryl Anne Horner (Emond).
A Visitation will be held Sunday, February 18, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Lakeshore Mortuary, 1815 S. Dobson Road, Mesa, AZ 85202. Funeral Service will be held at Lakeshore Mortuary on Monday, February 19, 2024, at 10:00 AM, followed by burial with US Navy Honors at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 1562 E Baseline Rd, Mesa, AZ 85204.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the National Kidney Foundation (kidney.org).
