Raymond was born and raised in San Antonio, TX where he attended Thomas Jefferson High School until he decided to serve his country at age 17 by joining the United States Marine Corps. He served 3 tours in Vietnam and then took a small break from the Marines. He decided to re-enlist in the Marine Corps in 1976 where he spent 21 more years of his life, achieved the rank of Sgt. Major and retired in 1997. While in the Marine Corps he attended college and received his Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health. After his retirement, he opened an insurance agency but continued his schooling and went on to get his Master’s Degree in Education. After about 7 years, he decided to close his insurance agency and went to teach at River City Christian School where he later became the assistant principal. They moved to AZ in 2009 to be closer to their children and grandchildren where he enjoyed being retired, serving in his church and golfing.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Adelina Parra, his father, Gregorio Barron and his brother Gregory Barron. He is survived by his spouse of 48 years, Maria J Barron (Janie), 3 children (Raymond, Julie and Mark) and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A private burial service will be held on Wednesday January 12, 2022 at the Arizona National Cemetery and Memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 7930 E Baseline Rd, Mesa, AZ 85209 at 11:00am.
