Peggy is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Elliott, and granddaughter, Taylor Johnson, both of Mesa, Arizona; two sisters, Judy Allison of Chickasha, Oklahoma, and Sharon Franklin of Wister, Oklahoma; two brothers, John Franklin of Oroville, California, and Wally Franklin of Celina, Texas; and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Page, as well as by two sisters, Ramia McClour and Maxine Rhodes, and two brothers, Don Franklin and Jack Franklin.
She and her eight siblings were a migrant farming family of modest means. Young Peggy and her family picked cotton and fruit in various cities across Arizona and California. One place she remembers fondly as a child was a flight strip in Torrance where her family lived in barracks. She made lifelong friends there. The family settled in Southern California, and Peggy graduated from Torrance High School in 1955. She attended Disneyland’s opening week that same year with a boyfriend and his family. She held several occupations including medical transcriptionist and professional caregiver.
Peggy lived in Oklahoma for a short time, working at Tinker Air Force Base and Oklahoma University. She gave her life to the Lord and was baptized in June 1977 in Norman, Oklahoma at Bethel Baptist Church. They had a severe winter with ice storms that year, and when Peggy had had enough, she and Jennifer returned to Southern California in 1979 where Peggy met her husband while working at Northrop. She had a high security clearance and was fortunate to work on the historic B2 stealth bomber. Bob and Peggy married in 1983, then moved from Torrance to Orange County in 1984. Bob passed away in 1997. For the next 23 years, Peggy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, visiting Disneyland, attending and participating in her church, playing a card game “Sets and Runs” that had been in the family for decades (she was competitive!), and traveling to visit family in other states. During a trip to visit family in Oklahoma, she was baptized again on August 4, 2013, at North Fork Baptist Church in Eufaula, alongside some other family members.
Peggy struggled for a couple decades with trigeminal neuralgia, a very painful nerve condition in her face, and had several procedures to try and resolve it, the final one successful but also resulting in losing all feeling in that side of her face. She was also a breast cancer survivor. These challenges didn’t stop her from being a very fun, generous, and giving person. If the Lord led her to give to a person in need or a cause, she obeyed, joyfully.
In early 2021 she moved to Arizona where she enjoyed living with her daughter and granddaughter, and attended Sun Valley Community Church as long as she was physically able. Life got more difficult toward the end, and Peggy was eager to go home to be with the Lord. She is now rejoicing in Heaven with our Savior.
Peggy will be laid to rest with other family members in the Oakland Cemetery in Poteau, Oklahoma.
