Nancy St. Marie, 71, passed away peacefully at home on April 15, 2021 in Mesa, Arizona, surrounded by family, after a 14-month battle with breast cancer. Nancy’s inspiring strength and inimitable humor carried through to the end of her journey in this life.
Born on March 1, 1950 in Great Barrington, Massachusetts to Anthony W. Forfa, Sr. and Nadine M. Forfa, Sr., Nancy was a voracious reader, gifted artist, and fiercely devoted, generous, and compassionate daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Nancy attended Berkshire Hills regional schools, and was part of the first class to graduate Monument Mountain Regional High School in 1968. After high school, Nancy worked as a nurse’s aide, in civil service, and eventually put her brilliant math skills to use in the accounting department at Becton Dickinson (BD) in Canaan, Connecticut. Nancy worked at BD for 15 years, eventually being promoted to Buyer/Scheduler, until leaving Connecticut in 1988 to move to Arizona. She also attended Fisher Junior College in Great Barrington, MA and Northwestern Connecticut Community College in Winsted, CT.
In Arizona, Nancy worked as a Senior Buyer for a semiconductor company, and as Principle Buyer for ASM America for 15 years, before retiring in 2015.
Nancy was preceded in death by both of her parents. She leaves her husband of 30 years, Timothy St. Marie; her 3 daughters — Jennifer Foley, Melissa Foley (Evan Tsoukalas), and Stephanie Foley (Jet); her 2 granddaughters — Samantha Maree Ridnour and Emma Susannah Ring; and her great-granddaughter Charlie Mae Ridnour.
Nancy is also survived by all of her 16 brothers and sisters, which include: Anthony Forfa, Jr. (Vickie); Joan Darada (Homer); Peggy Grimes (David); David Forfa, Sr.; Barbara Forfa; Marjorie Lindsay (Lucas); Marie Tighe (William); Stanley Forfa (Kathryn); John Forfa (Ivanka); William Forfa (Diana); Nadine Bracken (Lawrence); Thomas Forfa (Ann Marie); Suzanne Forfa; Nelson Forfa (Lisa); Leigh Forfa; and Darren Forfa (Jennifer). In addition, Nancy leaves 29 nieces and nephews and 23 great-nieces and great nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 1, 2021 at 10am, at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care in Mesa, Arizona. In lieu of flowers, donations in Nancy’s name may be made to The American Cancer Association or Breast Cancer Alliance.
