Hi.  I wanted to come today to Mike's celebration service, but getting away from work proved to be a challenge.  I work at Barrett Honors College, and Mike was someone that I've gotten to know as our "go-to" guy for printing.  I always welcomed Mike to come into my office and sit and share the latest.  I think he appreciated the chance to sit and have some water and chill out.  He is one special person.    Thank you for sharing the tribute video with all of us.  I am very sad and you have my sincere sympathies.  Please know that he was a special part of the Barrett family and will be missed.

We all knew Mike as ‘Doris’ back at the Kappa Sig house in Lincoln NE.  He was one of the older brothers when I came to school.  Doris was a wonderful, friendly, supportive guy, and a fixture at the card table.  AEKDB Doris

Mike was hilarious and always fun to hang with in high school. We had great times cutting  fire wood to sell for beer money. He was a top notch athlete and always kind to everyone.  Fast forward many years, I contacted Mike about talking to my son who was moving to Mesa to give him some insight about the area. Mike spent at least 4 hours with my son. He was just that kind of guy!! He will be missed!

Mike was a good man. Reliable, dedicated, and committed. I have been a customer of Mike for 9 years and he never disappointed us, always delivered above and beyond what was expected and knew what we needed better than we did. When I first started, i couldn't figure out what department he worked with and wondered why he was always in the hallways - it took 6 months for me to realize he was a vendor and not an employee here - although he might as well have been. He was included in pot-lucks, celebrations, losses, and over-all was part of our work family. He is well-loved and will be dearly missed. 

Always one for a good laugh, Mike was the bright spot of my day whenever we met up at the print shop.  It saddens me to think these days are gone, but a pleasure remembering the fun times we had.   He will be missed by many, especially me.  We will laugh together again one day.

As a brother, seven years younger, he was sometimes banished to his room when I had company! Fast forward several years, we were able to be reconnected as adults. We totally loved having him over at our house while he was in college. He adored our daughter. Reading the comics on Sunday was a ritual. The icing on the cake was we all loved football, ping pong and roast beef dinners. Being very pregnant with our son Grant, we traveled to Mike’s wedding. Grant and Mike ended up with a similar sense of humor! Must have been meant for me to not miss Mike as much.  Sad when Mike left for Arizona, but excited he found Joan! Ecstatic for the birth of their daughter Chelsea!! Mike was really grateful for the honor of walking Chelsea down the Sedona aisle to Zander!  Mike was WAY OVER the MOON to welcome his grandson Jax!!! Thank you  Joan, Chelsea, Zander and Jax for giving my younger brother a wonderful, full of love, life!

Mike will always be remembered as our dear friend who supported us at ASU often with all our printing needs. He was a joy to see when he delivered our orders, always soo kind and sweet. May you rest in peace dear friend. Thank you for always spreading your sunshine.  With love on behalf of your friends at the ASU School of Transborder Studies and for all your support in all my ASU roles. 

Mike was a great boss, great employee, mentor and friend.  I have known Mike for over 26 years.  I met Mike when I moved to Arizona and worked for him part-time.  The first day I went to work for him was not a good day for me.  I’d had to take a second job to pay the bills after my motorcycle accident.  I showed up to work for him, but I just did not want to work a second job, so I left. He called me up a little later and asked if I was coming back, which I did.  It was one of the better decisions I have made.   We worked together - I for him or him for me - until he passed away.    He was a really good friend and will be missed. Love you, Mike. Ron Lang.
