Born on July 13th, 1938, he graduated from Keio University in Tokyo, Japan and Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. As a student, he was a member of the Keio men’s figure skating team, placing third in the 1960 Olympic Trials.
Matt worked as an industrial designer in the housewares industry, designing a wide range of products from kitchen appliances and personal care to home comfort, working most recently for Hunter Fan Company as the Director of Design. He was awarded numerous patents and prizes for his design work and exhibited his art in shows in New York City and Connecticut. After his retirement, he continued to enjoy many hobbies including oil painting, golf, and traveling both within the United States and abroad.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Taeo and Fumiko Tsuji from Tokyo, Japan. He is survived by his wife, Mayumi Tsuji and children Eugene Tsuji of Stamford, CT and Nina Ralston of Pittsburgh, PA.
Friends are invited to attend a visitation from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, followed by refreshments, on Tuesday, October 7 at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park & Funeral Care (400 S. Power Road, Mesa, AZ 85206). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pratt Institute’s “Fund for Pratt – Art & Design School” in his memory.
