Marilyn Joan Mason died on Thursday the 12th of September 2019 in Arizona, following a battle with hip surgeries. She was 86 years of age. September 12th would have been the 66th anniversary of her
wedding to Charles Mason, who passed on June 5th, 2017.
She is survived by three sons, Gary - Laveen, AZ, Ronald - Arlington Hgts, IL. and Richard - Lafayette, IN, as well as an adopted daughter Rosalie Absalon - Gilbert, AZ. Marilyn has five grandchildren.....Richard, David, Stephanie, Charlyn, and Roseanne.
Born on the 19th of October 1932, in Chicago, the daughter of George and Mamie Wolf, Marilyn grew up with her older sister Dorothy, on Mason Avenue in Chicago. Marilyn graduated from Taft high school where she was a cheer leader!
Marilyn worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad at Union station in Chicago before getting married to Charles on September 12th 1953. She worked as a homemaker and raised 3 boys, which included time as a "den mother" for the boy scouts of America.
With the 3 boys leaving the nest, Marilyn owned and ran Mt. Prospect Employment Service. She was the heart and soul of the business for over 25 years. Charles was a retired union printer. Charles and Marilyn loved square dancing and that is what introduced them to Mesa Arizona. In 1997 they became residents of Sunland Towers in Mesa, and became active card players, swimmers, and of course square and round dancers.
Marilyn lived at Fellowship Square in Mesa from 2017 until 2 hip surgeries proved to be too much for independent living. She was a compassionate and loving soul who gave herself to all she met.
