Marie Diane Baker age 74 went with her beloved angels March 10, 2018 in her Gilbert, AZ home surrounded by her three children, sister and constant companion Sparkey. She courageously fought an eight month long battle with an aggressive cancer that wouldn’t be beat. She was a mother, sister and friend that will have a place forever in our hearts and will be truly missed.
As a second generation Arizonan, she was born in Phoenix AZ to Albert H. and Adma (Nackard) Colson. She was preceded in death by her brother Phillip Martin Colson. She is survived by her sister Deborah Lee Cargile (Sun City, AZ) her son Michael Huffman, (Encinidas CA), and daughters Michele Evans (Gilbert, AZ), and Marchel Smith (Mesa AZ). five grandchildren Austin, Baylee and Ashley Evans and Trevor and Devin Smith.
Marie had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. She was
a hard worker and knew only one way to do things, her way. Those that knew her can agree she believed her way was best and was right more often than not. She worked mostly in accounting, but at times would venture into other things like restaurant owner, cross country trucker and silver miner to name a few. Whatever she was doing she gave it one hundred percent. She loved to travel to any ocean and enjoy the sunsets. The years she lived in Hawaii were very special to her. She loved spending time outdoors in her healing garden or just watching the birds and squirrels from her front porch at her summer home in Flagstaff and of course walking her main squeeze Sparkey.
