Margaret was born in Northern Ireland to John Hamilton Stevenson and Jessie Baillie Stevenson. She was the youngest in a family of seven children when she joined four brothers and two sisters in 1928.
Margaret preferred to be called by her middle name, Marion, among family and close friends.
Marion met her lifelong beau, James Edmund Wilson, at the tender age of sixteen. They were married on April 16, 1949, and celebrated 65 years of marriage together. This was a major achievement… recognized at the time by a Wedding Anniversary Greeting certificate signed by President of the United States, Barack Obama, and a congratulatory letter from Arizona Senator, John McCain.
Marion had a vast and varied set of hobbies that she expanded throughout her life. From a young age, Marion grew her skills as a talented seamstress. In her spare time, she crafted many a chic frock for her sisters, and skillfully created her own wedding gown. Later, in the 1960’s, she impressed her teenage son by tailoring upholstery for his little English cars. Marion enjoyed pursuing other handicrafts such as quilting, knitting, and stained glass. She was an avid reader and could solve crossword puzzles like no one else. Marion also enjoyed gardening and learned to play the guitar. She had a deep fascination for discovering and recording the family genealogy, and valued the connections it provided with her family who remained across the ocean after she moved away at an early age. Family near and far smiled at her unabated hope to find a Royal connection with a share in an old castle.
Marion worked as an administrative secretary in Special Education at Abington School District in Pennsylvania before retiring and relocating to Arizona in 1989.
Marion is survived by her son, Edmund; daughter Jamie; four grandchildren, Laura, Aimee, Wendy and Taylor; and one great granddaughter, Sylvie.
