Margaret Elaine Corey, born on September 11, 1929, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025, in Mesa, Arizona. She was the beloved only child of Ernest J. Elswood and Goldie Nielsen.
A proud graduate of Idaho Falls High School in the Class of 1947, Margaret married her high school sweetheart, Dean Corey, that same year. Together, they built a life filled with love and adventure, raising two children, Michael and Diane.
Margaret worked at several department stores throughout her career, including C.C. Anderson, Bon Marché, and the Idaho Department Store. Later in life, she managed her parents' mobile home park, Sunnyside Acres. While her children were young, Margaret was deeply involved in their lives and activities. She served as a dedicated PTA member and was a Den Mother for Michael's Cub Scout Troop as well as Diane's Brownie Scout Troop. She also supported Diane’s involvement in Job’s Daughters.
Family time was central to Margaret’s life. She and Dean enjoyed outdoor adventures with their children, skiing and snowmobiling in Island Park, Yellowstone Park, and other scenic areas near Idaho Falls. In later years, they traveled extensively in their RV with friends and cherished every moment spent with their children and grandchildren. In 1984, Margaret and Dean relocated to Mesa, Arizona, where they embraced the warmer climate and continued making memories together.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of many years, Dean Corey. She is survived by her son Michael (Annette) Corey of Idaho Falls; daughter Diane (Greg) Aman; grandchildren Morgan (Thom) Morse, Derek Sherwood, and Stephanie (Darren) Isham; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In accordance with her wishes, no funeral services are planned. Margaret’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
