

A life long resident of Perry, Margaret will be buried in Violet Hill Cemetery, Perry, IA.

Margaret was born in Ink, Missouri, on March 19, 1918 to Clarence and Pearl Smith. As a young girl, her family moved to Yale, Iowa, where she grew up and graduated from high school. She married Arthur Bose of Yale, IA, on August 10, 1937 and shortly thereafter moved to rural Perry where they farmed and raised a family for the next 40 years. Following the death of her husband Art in 1986, she married Joseph Kautzky on August 15, 1987, residing in their home in Perry and later at Spring Valley Retirement Community. Following Joe's death in 2006, Margaret moved to Apache Junction, Arizona to be near her family.
Margaret was a devoted farm wife and mother, and was an active volunteer in school and community activities. After raising three children, she worked as a receptionist for Dr. Robert Deranleau in Perry for many years. She was voted Perry's Mother of the Year in 1956, was president of the Washington Township School PTA, and was a national award winner for her speeches as a member of Toastmistress. She was also an avid participant in St. Patrick's Church activities, volunteering her time in many charitable and social programs, as well as being a ranking member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She loved camping and fishing, bowling, and watching her three sons play baseball.
Margaret is survived by her son Mark (Carol) Bose of Gold Canyon, Arizona, as well as 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husbands, Art and Joe, two sons, Jim (Perry, IA) and Terry Bose (Gold Canyon, AZ), two sisters and two brothers, Juanita Gardner of Ames, IA, Wilma Ducket of Perry, IA, Chad Smith of Los Angeles, CA, and Don Smith of Austin, TX.
Margaret expressed her desire that all memorials be made to St. Patrick's Memorial Foundation.
