Born to the late Clarence and Marie Hoesli on November 28, 1937. Linda was the sixth child born in a family of fifteen. She graduated from Tell City High in 1956, saved her money and attended McConnell Airline School in Minneapolis. Brave and determined, she accepted a stewardess position with Alaska Airlines and set off for the vast territory of Alaska. While there, she met Thomas Parks at the lunch counter at Fairbanks airport. They were married June 28, 1958. They returned to Tom’s hometown of Rome, New York and started to raise their family.
The Parks family moved several times as Tom enjoyed much success in his career with Essex Wire. With each move Linda created beautiful and welcoming homes with her excellent sewing skills and eye for decorating. Tom and Linda traveled the world entertaining Essex customers especially enjoying trips to Hawaii, Ireland and Switzerland. Putting her travel knowledge to work, Linda founded Travel Planning Service in San Juan Capistrano, California in 1984 and ran it successfully for many years. Tom and Linda retired to Prescott, Arizona building their dream home in the mountains there. In retirement, they especially loved road trips and many fun adventures with Linda’s brother Jerry and his wife, Gail.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Tom in 2007, her parents, Clarence and Marie; brothers Bob, Ted, Jim, Jerry, Pat, Jack and Steve; sisters Diane and Marilyn. She is survived by her three children, Elizabeth (Philip) of Chandler, Arizona, Patrick (Penny), of Riverside, California and Michael (Katerina), of Mission Viejo, California. Grandchildren Hilary Geiger (Patrick) of Cologne, Germany, Hannah Hoepner (Jacob) of Mesa, AZ, Sara Parks (fiancé Nick), of Lake Elsinore, CA, Sean Parks (Melissa), of Jurupa Valley, CA, Kristina Parks (fiancé Tyler) of Irvine, CA and Anna Parks, of Mission Viejo, CA. One great-grandchild, Emmy Parks, also of Jurupa Valley, CA. Also surviving are brothers Mike and Larry; and sisters June, Mary and Vicki.
A memorial mass will be held at 9:30 am May 10th at St. Germaine Catholic Church in Prescott Valley, AZ with internment following at the Prescott National Cemetery in Prescott, AZ. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
