Linda Jean Jones (Rupe), 69, of Gilbert, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Mercy Gilbert Hospital from complications of End-Stage Renal Disease. Linda was born on November 2, 1945 in Colorado Springs, CO, to parents Ora and Iris Jean Rupe. When she was just 18 months old, Linda survived a devastating injury in which she was accidentally run over by a car, crushing her spine and leaving her disabled. Despite her early adversity, Linda went on to lead an abundant life, never letting her condition stand in the way of accomplishing her dreams and goals--all while donning just the right accessories! As a youth, she overcame the odds and learned to walk, ride a bike, roller skate, drive, and even water ski. Eventually she married, had children, and ran her own creative business (Craft Corner). Linda loved crafts, bingo, being with friends, traveling, and spending time with her family. She was a “hair girl,” giving hundreds of perms in her Bellflower, California home and changing the color of her own hair often. In 2002, Linda moved to Gilbert to be closer to her grandchildren, who called her Nana and were thrilled by the Lottery Scratchers she tucked into their birthday cards each year. She lived in Trilogy at Power Ranch where she was active in many clubs and enjoyed a full social schedule. Linda is survived by her sister Cheryl Rupe-Wilcox of Hemet, CA; daughter Lori Greene and husband Jeff; son Jason Jones and partner Stacie Smith; grandchildren Austin, Katya, Vladimir, Zachary and Christian Greene. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Band of Angels, In Memory of Linda Jones Chandler Heights, AZ 85127. A funeral service will be held at 10:00am, Friday, April 24, 2015 at Mariposa Gardens Cemetery Chapel, 6747 E. Broadway Rd in Mesa. Please visit www.mariposagardens.com to leave condolences.
