Linda T. Garza, 94, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on April 11, 2019. She was born on April 13, 1924 in San Antonio, Texas. Linda’s legacy is her love of family, strong work ethic and faith. In 1947, she was married to Joseph M. Garza in San Antonio, Texas. They had five children, Blanca, Edna, Joey, Linda and Evelyn. Linda was a true life partner with her husband. In 1959 they started a family Mexican food and import business, La Azteca Food Products in Ecorse, Michigan. Together, they celebrated over 50 years in business and 64 years in marriage.
Linda was a role model to her children, and exemplified the values of love, faith, strength, courage and independence. She taught her children how to live fully, and how to truly appreciate each precious moment of life together, by being present and being true to your dreams.
Linda adored Mother Teresa and truly modeled her life following one of her quotes:
“Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier.
Be the living expression of God’s kindness: kindness in your face,
kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile.”
Linda knew no strangers. Everyone who knew her, loved her.
Thank you for the many lessons, many blessings and the opportunity to walk with you on your journey home and experience how to die with dignity and grace!
Linda is survived by her four children Edna and her husband Russ, Joseph Jr., Linda and her husband Steve, and Evelyn; six grandchildren Michele, Stephanie, Corey, Nicole, Angela and Joseph III; and nine great grandchildren Steven, Michael, Isabella, Natalie, Cole, Connor, Sophia, Preston and Ava. She is also survived by a sister, Evangeline, along with many nieces and nephews.
“Be happy in the moment, that’s enough. Each moment is all we need, not more.”
Mother Teresa
