On Tuesday July 7, 2020, Linda Anne Bruce, ( aka "Mac"), Mother, Wife, Grandmother, Daughter & Sister, passed away peacefully at home, after a long & courageous battle with lung cancer, at the age of 72. She was born in Phoenix, Az. on Feb 7, 1948. Linda was the daughter of Harold Myron Moore, MD and Georgianne Brittain Moore. Special sister to Randy Moore, Teri Moore Souman & Becky Moore Dixon.
She was married to Gary Bruce on April 22, 1974, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was a most remarkable Wife & Best Friend to Gary, and Mother to Bill, Brandi and Brandon. Being a Grandmother to Lainey Adele Bruce age 12, Logan Elias Bruce age 9, Denisia Anne Rivera, age 7 and Alexander Liam McAllan, age 5 ------they ALL were to her, life's most cherished treasures.
She graduated from Porterville HS in California In 1966. She excelled on the swim team & was a diving champion. During the summer she worked as a swim instructor & a lifeguard. She received an Associates degree from Porterville Community College.
She also excelled in art, especially caricatures; which later as a mother served her family very well for the planning of family gifts & holidays. Her children never, ever wore store bought Halloween costumes----Linda designed and made all of their costumes, including characters from Star Wars, Disney movies, & a star from the rock band "KISS". Everyone made from her own design & patterns, " Mac Originals". Many of her creations won " Best in Show" at the local malls. She was a gifted make-up artist, seamstress and holiday planner.
In the early 70's, Linda worked as a Merchandising Educator for Thrifty Drug Stores, travelling throughout Arizona teaching employees how to set up & maintain every department in the store. She was unrivaled in her ability to teach hands-on, merchandising techniques, required to facilitate market sales & appeal to their maximum in over 30 departments. She was so accomplished in this that she was utilized at every new Thrifty Drug Store installation during Arizona's rapid growth in the early 1970's.
She became an acoustical ceiling contractor's estimator many years later. Additionally, she could fix any mechanical item until degenerative arthritis took over. Even then, she remained the family barber and hair dresser into 2020, never letting go of her independence and willingness to help anyone that entered into her life.
Her most valued talent, simply put, was her innate ability to be a trusted confidant and life counselor for her family, siblings and closest friends. She was a terrific "listener", much valued by her family growing up and into their adult lives.. She was always available to her family. She had the ability to leave all who met her feeling good about themselves & happy to have been in the company of this "down to earth" gracious and tolerant, accepting women. Being prejudiced or "racist" as in today's vernacular, was not a part of her DNA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Randy, and her youngest son Brandon
Her husband Gary misses her terribly, and states for the record : "Real love is going through all the ups and downs of this mortal life together, and still feeling that eternal spark and I DO, and I ALWAYS WILL !"
A small private interment will be held on July 31, 2020 at Mariposa Gardens Cemetery.
