It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kimberly Kay Urness, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend.
Born in Emmetsburg, Iowa on May 30th, 1967, to Leo Francis Mundus and Delores Jean Mundus (Henely). Kimberly's vivacious spirit and love for her family remained a cornerstone of her life.
Educated in the Emmetsburg school system, Kimberly graduated from Emmetsburg High School in 1986 before moving to Mesa, Arizona. It was here that she began her career in the Restaurant Industry, showcasing her vibrant personality and knack for making every guest feel like a family member. She went on to obtain her Arizona Real Estate license in the early 90's and was involved in commercial and luxury real estate. She later started her own accounting business that she did for several years with various construction and hospitality companies.
On February 6, 1988, Kimberly married the love of her life, Paul Urness, in Mesa, Arizona. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter in Gilbert, Arizona, where they lived for over 30 years.
Kimberly’s home was the center of joyous family gatherings and cherished memories. She had a unique ability to light up any room she entered and made a significant impact on everyone she met. Kimberly passed away peacefully in her Gilbert home on May 31, surrounded by her loving family.
She leaves behind an enduring legacy, remembered lovingly by her husband, Paul Urness, and her children, Jordan Dudding (Joseph), Jamie Craig (Aaron), and Nicholas Urness (Nina). She was a treasured grandmother to Holidae and Lucyanne Urness, Maxine Dudding, and Hudson Craig. Kimberly also leaves behind her Father Leo Mundus (Wendy) and siblings, Laura Rose (Mike), Mike Mundus (Lisa), Matthew Mundus, Mother-in-Law Angelita Urness and sister-in-law Tanya Gordon (Mark), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends in Iowa and Arizona who will remember her for her generosity, loving nature, and undying spirit.
Kim is welcomed into heaven by her Mother D. Jean Egeland, sister Cindy and Denny Soenen, and Father-in-Law Terry Urness.
As we mourn Kimberly's loss, we celebrate her life and the love she shared with all of us. May her radiant spirit continue to shine brightly, guiding us through our lives. She will be greatly missed, but her memory will live on in our hearts forever
A Funeral Mass will be held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mesa, Arizona, on Thursday, June 13th, 2024, starting at 11am, with inurnment to follow at City of Mesa Cemetery in Mesa, Arizona.
The family would like to invite friends and family to a Memorial Reception after services.
