Kenneth George Carter passed away the evening of May 10, 2018 in Hospice of the Valley in Gilbert, Arizona. Ken was born on July 29, 1941 in Alameda, California, where he spent most of his childhood before moving to Oregon.
He served as a missionary for two years in New Zealand for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints beginning in 1961. Shortly after returning from his mission, he met and married D.A. Carter in 1964.
Ken was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, where he served for 8 years. Ken also worked as a seasonal employee for the U.S. Forest Service during the early years of his and D.A.'s marriage, where he served as a fire tower lookout. Ken and D.A. lived in the lookout tower during the summer months, where he kept an eye out for smoke and fire in the forest. Ken later worked for Diamonds (now Dillards) and later JC Penney before starting his own handyman construction business. In the last years of his life, he ran a catering business, worked for Z-Coil, and Home Depot.
He was a wonderful, hard-working husband and faithful father who wore quirky fun hats and was always fixing something. He even tried to fix the hospital sink a couple of days before he passed away.
He is survived by his wife, D.A. Carter, and children, Bryan Carter, Laura Gloschat, and Roxann Smith. Ken loved and served the Lord and his family throughout his life. He will be dearly missed in this life.
