Joe was born on December 28, 1939 in Warren MN to Axel and Gladys Lundberg. Joe graduated from Warren High School and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1958. Joe was a proud Navy man stationed at many ship and shore commands in Japan and the United States including two combat tours in Vietnam. Joe attained the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer before retiring from active duty in 1978. Joe then worked as an master licensed industrial electrician and maintenance supervisor before retiring from Cargill in 1994. Never sitting still, Joe continued to work for various companies until 2000.
Joe was ALWAYS busy and enjoyed doing major home renovations/maintenance, tinkering in his garage, reading, watching movies, family activities, taking long walks, watching football and baseball, driving his beloved yellow convertible Mustang and telling sea stories. Joe was a member of Gold Canyon United Methodist Church, Fleet Reserve Association and the VFW.
Joe married the love of his life, Betty Oster on February 19 1966 in Fargo, ND. Joe was a dedicated, hard-working husband and father, loved by all who knew him. Joe dedicated his life to the loving care of his wife, no one could have done a better job! Joe was very proud of all his children and grandchildren, and did his best to instill Christian values and good work ethic.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Betty Lundberg of Gold Canyon AZ; beloved sister Ruth Ann (Glenn); sons Robert (Donna) of Whitesboro TX, Dennis (Pam) of Minot ND, Brad (Sandy) of Blaine MN and Matt (Charlene) of Whitesboro TX; grandchildren Bob, Renee', Maddy, Tony, Dustin, Erika, Brita, David, Ryan, Noah, Niklas and great-granddaughter Jayna.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents Axel and Gladys; stepfather Edmund; sister Marlyce; sister Joyce; mother-in-law Alice, brother-in-law Robert and several family members and friends.
Celebration of Life with military honors will be held on November 23rd at 2:00 pm at Gold Canyon United Methodist Church in Gold Canyon AZ.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the Family requests memorial donations be made to Gold Canyon United Methodist Church Food Shelf, any local food shelf or Veterans Organization.
