Joseph Ernest Norman Campbell, a man to whom family was everything, died on July 2nd, surrounded by his wife, his three surviving children, and many of his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was 82. Joe was born May 26, 1931 in Putnam, Connecticut. He moved to Arizona in 1951, where he met and married Delores, a love match that lasted 61 years. He worked for the Arizona Air National Guard for 35 years, retiring in 1986. He ran an upholstery business for several years thereafter. He loved boating, hiking, skiing and travel, particularly to the White Mountains, Apache Lake, and the Mogollon Rim. Those places were as much home to him as the Valley of the Sun. Joe was the handiest of handymen, answering late-night calls too numerous to count, helping friends and family members in need of assistance on the road and at home. Joe is survived by his wife, Delores, his son Joel, his daughters Judy and Cathy, and eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. A daughter, Brenda, died in 2006. Joe was generous, a big personality, and a true character. He will be missed by all. Arrangements are entrusted to Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park & Funeral Care. The family asks that memories of Joe be shared on their website at www.MariposaGardens.com.
