A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Mountain Park Church, 16461 S. 48th St, Phoenix, AZ 85048, on Friday, February 11, 2022, at 10 a.m. followed by lunch.
Joe was born on June 19, 1978, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, Nebraska to Roman and Patricia (Golus) Badura. Joe grew up in Ashton, Nebraska, and attended Loup City High School in Loup City, Nebraska, graduating in 1996. He then attended the University of Nebraska – Lincoln (UNL), and obtained a Bachelor’s of Science in Marketing in 2000. Upon graduating from UNL, he decided to also pursue an Associate of Science degree in Electronics Engineering from Southeast Community College in Milford, Nebraska, and graduated in 2002.
After college, Joe worked for Nestle Corporation as an Information Systems Specialist and also a Server Information Support Specialist. His job with Nestle brought him to Phoenix, AZ, in 2006. He later worked for Microsoft as a Premier Field Engineer from 2011 – 2017. In May of 2017 he assumed the role of Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer at Arizona Public Service (APS), until his death.
Joe had various hobbies and interests; including all things technology, he was extremely adept with computers and was fascinated with innovation and served as the official family “Technology Consultant”. He was also interested in weather and served as a volunteer weather spotter for Lancaster County in Nebraska. He loved aviation and developed an appreciation for military aircraft as a result of attending air shows such as the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds growing up. He had a Ham Radio license and was involved with various groups when in Nebraska and Arizona. He was a “handy guy” and able to fix most things around his home. He loved motorcycles and was a very experienced and safe rider having ridden for over 26 years.
However, Joe’s most important role was father. According to his 11 year old son, Lincoln, he was “The very best father in the whole wide world” and no truer words were ever spoken. Lincoln was his pride and joy. Joe was a very involved father and extremely active in the Ahwatukee Little League and Lincoln’s club baseball teams serving as the official scorekeeper utilizing the Game Changer application. Joe attended nearly every single baseball game of Lincoln’s since he began the sport in 2016. He also planned special vacations taking his son to various Major League Baseball fields around the country. His priority was always Lincoln.
He is survived by his son, Lincoln, of Phoenix; sister, Lynn Badura, of Phoenix; brother, Nick Badura and sister-in-law, Camie Badura of Loup City, Nebraska; nieces Abby and Sydney Badura of Kearney, Nebraska; and former wife, Kerri Hasselquist Badura, of Phoenix.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents Roman and Patricia Badura.
Joe’s family wishes to thank his many friends, neighbors, the Ahwatukee league and club baseball teams, and Joe’s co-workers at Arizona Public Service (APS) for all of the prayers, well wishes, and overall support during this difficult time.
