John Bond Reid died December 18, 2017, in Mesa, AZ. He was born May 19, 1926, in Jackson, TN. He married Bobby S. Curlin, November 22, 1946. She died March 6, 2017. John served a brief tour in the Navy before successfully achieving a 30-year career as a Rural Letter Carrier and proudly working alongside his father on the family farm. In addition to his wife, John was preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose Ramsey and Edna Bond Reid; brother, Ambrose Ramsey (late Vivian) Reid, Jr.; and nephew David Archie Reid III. He is survived by brother David Archie (Sue) Reid II of Louisville, KY; sister, Rosalie Reid Long of Grand Junction, CO; nieces and nephews Deborah Lee Long Mauter of Florissant, CO; Harry Sykes (Tammy) Long, Jr. of Grand Junction, CO; George Ambrose (Polly) Long of Taos, NM; James Robert (Lucille) Morris of Sugar Tree, TN; Richard (Pam) Hines of Edmonton, KY; grandnieces and grandnephews Daniel Alexander (Margaret) Long of San Antonio, TX; Stephen Ambrose Long of Taos, NM; and Stuart Morris of Dallas, TX. Over the years, John loved flying single engine airplanes; touring the U.S. with his wife in an Airstream; permanent retirement in Mesa, AZ; golfing; and reading. John’s thoughtfulness and generosity materialized early in life as expressed in a letter he sent his parents gifting them the first $10.00 earned from his Navy enlistment. A celebration of life will take place in Tennessee later this spring.
