John passed away at the age of 91 on October 7, 2015 in Tempe, AZ. John Waldorf Hall was born on November 14, 1923 in Lincoln, Nebraska. John was raised in Omaha, Nebraska where he attended Adams School and Benson High School graduating in 1941. After High School, John worked at several different places including The World Insurance Co (WOW) where he met his future wife Lois Hart. They were married October 25, 1943, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where John was training during World War II. They moved six times during his Pilot and Officers Training – from Utah, Texas, California, and Montana, then back to California and Arizona. After the war they returned to Omaha.
While working, John went back to college and graduated in 1948. After graduation, John went to work for Philips Petroleum in Omaha. During his 20 years with Philips Petroleum he was transferred to Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Sioux City, Iowa; and then Indianola, Iowa. When The Philip Petroleum Office closed in Indianola in 1961, John was transferred to New Jersey where he worked for Philips Petroleum until he went to work for Chrysler Reality out of Michigan. He worked for Chrysler Reality managing dealerships in New York and New Jersey for eleven years. When he retired in 1981, they moved from Basking Ridge, New Jersey to Tempe, Arizona. During his ‘retirement years’ he managed several apartment complexes for others and himself in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
John is preceded in death by his wife Lois, his brothers Lester and Bill, and sister Clarine. John is survived by his son John D. (wife Jean and children Michael and Julie, and grandson Weston), daughter Laurie (husband Wayne and grandson Julian), and son David.
A Celebration of Life reception will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 3:00pm at Lakeshore Mortuary, 1815 S. Dobson Rd, Mesa, AZ 85202.
