CHANDLER—Jody Lynn Peterson became an angel on May 17, 2022. Although this was unexpected, her husband Paige and her beloved boys, Rex and Kade were there for most of Jody’s final moments. Jody’s endless effort to give culminated with her final gift by donating her body to help others. This gift was a great representation of what Jody always understood and was committed to; unconditional love. Jody was born on December 3,1968 in Youngstown, OH. She graduated from Palatine High School in 1987 and the University of Arizona in 1991.
While attending U of A, Jody joined the Pi Beta Phi sorority and enjoyed being the social chairman. Always outgoing and willing to help people, the strength of her friendships continued to blossom. Jody majored in Marketing, Psychology and Communications. Jody also met Paige at U of A and they were married in Palatine on June 19, 1993.
Jody started her career with Hyatt Regency in Phoenix and positions included Restaurant Manager, Catering Manager and Room Service Manager. Before she moved on to Wyndham Garden Hotels, Jody was recognized as Employee of the Year for the Hyatt downtown. She also earned Employee of the Year for the Wyndham hotel in Chandler, AZ.
The biggest accomplishment for Jody was giving birth to Rex in 1999 and Kade in 2001. Everything in her life centered around her two boys and her unconditional love never wavered. As the boys were transitioning from elementary school to middle school, Jody started working part time at Kyrene del Cielo. Not everyone is cut out for working with pre-school and kindergarten children, but Jody loved spending time with those kids. Jody’s love and willingness to give extended to not only family, but anyone in need. In many ways, she was a magnet for those who needed help.
When her boys went off to college, Jody became a part time nanny for a family nearby in Chandler. Jody’s love for those three children was more than evident and continued until the end.
Jody is also survived by her sister Tracy and her parents Phil and Lynn Arnold, all of whom live in Palatine, IL.
A celebration of life will be held on June 3rd at the Lakeshore Mortuary from 4-7 p.m. A second memorial will be held at 10 a.m. on June 18th at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Palatine. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation in Jody’s name to AZ Donor Network at dnaz.org.
