He is preceded in death by his daughter Anne Nichols Lehman and wife Elizabeth Studer Nichols.
He is survived by his daughter, Janet E. Lee of Young, Arizona and four grandchildren, Dallas R. Nichols, Jerry S. Lee, Jocelyn E. Lee, and Seamus M. Lehman. He also had three step grandchildren and seven great grandchildren whom he loved very much.
He served in the USMC at Camp Pendleton from 1956-59, and received an honorable discharge. He was a civil engineer for the Arizona Highway Department and later for the City of Tempe. He participated and/or supervised the building of many roadways, dams, and bridges in the state of Arizona over the span of 45 years, including surveying for Lake Powell in the 1950s, the construction of I-17 Fwy in the 1960s, and the construction of the new Mill Avenue Bridge in 1991.
Graveside Services will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85024, on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 1:00 pm.
