Survived by his wife, Jo Ellen Meade; father, Frank, of Cheyenne, WY; sister, Judi of Gettysburg, PA; sons, Josey of Cheyenne, WY and Jeremy of Wheatland, WY; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Jerry went to Rossman Elementary, Johnson Junior HS and East High School, all in Cheyenne, WY. Next step was attending Casper College to get a Bachelor’s Degree. After college, Jerry went to work for Exxon in the coal mines in Gillette, WY, working on the monster heavy mining equipment, later opening his own business as a mobile diesel and heavy equipment mechanic. Jerry married Jo Ellen Heller in 1984 in Berthold, ND. Jerry had two sons, Jeremy and Josey. In 1987, the family moved to the Phoenix, area in Arizona, where Jerry continued using his skill of diagnosing and fixing problems on diesel and heavy equipment. The family returned to Cheyenne in 1992 and purchased 10 acres. He and his family and friends did a lot of work to make it a homestead for the family to live and a shop where Jerry could bring vehicles and equipment in and fix them. He was able to build new parts for older equipment that one could no longer get parts for. Jerry was skilled in diagnosing and fixing anything. He could build new things if he set his mind to do so. Beginning in 2016, Jerry started cutting back his work hours and finally retired in 2018.
Jerry is being cremated. In lieu of funeral services, a gather of family and friends will take place to celebrate his life sometime after his ashes return to Cheyenne. His family can be reached at PO Box 4275 Apache Junction, AZ 85178
