Jerry McMillen, 79 of Mesa, AZ passed away peacefully August 8, 2016 with his family by his side. He was born March 21, 1937 to Harry Charles and Margaret Helen (Witherow) McMillen in Edina, Mo. Jerry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from April 1958 to February 1962. During his time in the Army, he was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne and a member of the 8th Infantry Divisions Browning Automatic Competition Rifle Team in Mainz, Germany. He remained close to several he served with and celebrated several reunions together. Jerry was an avid bicyclist, both mountain biking and road racing. He rode in many state and national races throughout the country and was awarded many medals. He loved the outdoors and if not biking you would find him hiking a trail or taking the boat out to go fishing. Jerry owned and operated the largest independent manufactured housing dealership in the country. He started his business from the ground up and worked very hard to make it what it became. He cared deeply for his employees as they were a huge part of making the company the success it was. Jerry was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2006, only in remission for the first year and fighting hard for the next nine. Never giving up and always looking ahead. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Margaret McMillen; sister Rita Bybee and his brothers Jim and Jackie McMillen. He is survived by his loving wife Pat McMillen; daughter Kristi Dominguez, and her husband Dennis; granddaughters Brynn, Taylor and Kensey Lubin; his sister Joan Pettit and his brother Dan McMillen. A celebration of his life will be at 11:00am, Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at Mariposa Gardens Cemetery Chapel, 6747 E. Broadway Rd. in Mesa.
