Jere Leon (Gellert) Anderson passed away June 27, 2013 at Gardiner Hospice Home in Phoenix, AZ. Jere was born September 18, 1927 in York, NE. She married Clarence Francis (Larry) Anderson on September 18, 1946 in Chicago, IL and worked as the bookkeeper for Larry’s gas station in IL. Later in her life, at the age of 70, she decided to go to school to become a Deacon of her church, which took 3 years of education. She also became a Stephen Minister, Stephen Leader, and ran the religious library at Friendship Village.
Jere’s passions were her family, friends and her faith in God. She was an incredible mother and grandmother and had many friends. The presence of God surrounded her and that rubbed off on anyone she was with.
Playing cards, whether it be bridge, rummy or manipulation was her enjoyment.
She is preceded in death by her parents John and Genevieve Gellert; husband Larry Anderson; daughter Debbe Patzka Gibbs; and cousin Susan Goyette.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Carol and Ian MacAulay of Chandler, AZ; grandson Steve Reuse & Aimee & 7 children living in Lake Villa, IL; grandson Scott Reuse & Katie in LaGrange, CA; granddaughter Genevieve Cabonargi & Ben & 2 children in Wilmette, IL; granddaughter Sandra (Reuse) Woller & Paul & 1 ½ children in Franksville, WI; step-granddaughter Heather Campbell & Bryan & 2 children in Chandler, AZ; and step-grandson Bryan MacAulay & Melodie & 3 children in Chandler, AZ. Jere a proud and loving great grandmother is survived by 16 ½ great grandchildren.
Memorial Service to be held at Friendship Village’s Auditorium Saturday, July 13th at 10:00 am, 2625 E. Southern Ave., Tempe, AZ 85282.
Burial Service will be held Saturday, July 20th at 1:00 pm in Green Valley, AZ in the columbarium at The Lutheran Church of the Risen Savior, where she will be placed next to her husband, Larry Anderson.
In Lieu of flowers donations can be made in Jere’s name to Hospice of The Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
