Jennifer Jenae Stratmeyer was born on February 18th, 1985. She arrived perfectly and was very vocal with a full head of shiny dark hair. She entered eternity on Sunday, December 11th, 2022. She was an extremely thoughtful, kind, caring, vibrant person who possessed many talents. Her beautiful smile would light up any room and she had a contagious laugh and a quick wit.
Jen, as a “leftie”, was very artistic and creative. She made delicious cakes, cookies, and cupcakes and her decorating was professional quality. She was musically inclined, playing guitar, flute, and piano. She had an affinity for animals her whole life and has had multiple cats, the most recent being Finley. Jen especially loved babies and children. She was like a kid magnet and they would always seek her out.
She grew up in Rockerville, SD and loved exploring and hiking in the Black Hills. She graduated from Central High School in Rapid City, SD in 2003. Her heart’s desire was to move back “home” one day.
Jennifer worked as an analyst with StateServ in Mesa, AZ, and she had an exceptional work ethic.
Her greatest love and source of pride and joy was her son, Lucas James Winger, to whom she was the most amazing mother ever.
Jennifer endured much adversity through her life and, although she was strong and resilient, at the end, it was just more than she could bear. Her precious life ended far too soon. If you knew her, you are very fortunate. She will be missed beyond measure and will live on in our hearts until we’re together again. We are grateful that she is finally at peace.
Jennifer is survived by her son, Lucas; mother, Julie (John) Heilman; father, Arlin (Stephanie) Stratmeyer; brothers, Adam Stratmeyer and Tyler (Kenzie) Stratmeyer; grandmother, Audrey Strand; nephew, Kohen Stratmeyer; and boyfriend, Rich Contryman; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by grandparents, Earl and Marian Stratmeyer, Dennis Strand; uncle, Jim Boyum; and her precious son, Ethan Patrick Winger.
A graveside service will be held at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care; 6747 W Broadway Rd, Mesa, AZ 85206 on Wednesday, December 28th, 2022 at 11:00 AM.
Celebration of Jen’s life will be held at the American Legion in Rapid City, SD on Sunday, January 8th from 3:00 PM-5:30 PM. Feel free to come any time.
