Jean Alice Powell (Griert) of Chandler, AZ passed away on March 3rd, 2014. She was born in Winslow, AZ on July 3rd, 1928. She was raised on her parents’ farm in Williamsfield, Illinois, before moving back to Arizona on her own in 1947. She worked at a drug store in Chandler, where she met her husband of over 30 years Glenn Elmo Powell.
Jean was a member of Alma School Road Church of Christ. She had a great and silly sense of humor, loved birds, dogs, arguing politics and ice cream. Most of all, she loved her children and Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughter, Charyll, who died of cancer in 1993. Jean is survived by her children, Barbara Dynes (Terry), Glenna Lewis (Raymond) and Ray Powell (Kimberly). She is also survived by six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
She would like donations to be sent in her memory to the Humane Society or to the Alma School Church of Christ in lieu of flowers. A celebration of her life will be on Saturday March 15th 2014 at 2:00 pm at Glenna’s home.
