Jim Missimer passed away on Wednesday, October 26, after battling duodenal cancer for over seven months. Jim was surrounded by his family in the Hawaiian Islands when he departed. Jim touched many of our lives. He was a good and generous person, with a warm, welcome and a witty sense of humor for all who met him.
He was born in Philadelphia and raised in southern New Jersey. Volunteering for military service in the army, he did a tour of duty in Vietnam, winning a bronze star. He returned to the Philadelphia area and worked for several years until he moved to Arizona in 1974. There, he met and fell in love with his future wife, Denise. They married in 1980. Their family grew over the next 6 years with the birth of two daughters, Crystal and Heather.
He worked for Intel for twenty-eight years and was a deeply respected expert on product development engineering and product qualification. Jim was also a mentor for generations of Intel leaders and employees.
Outside of work, Jim enjoyed family vacations, camping with family and friends, and golfing.
Jim is survived by his wife Denise, daughters Crystal and Heather, brothers David and Don, sister Anne and their families.
A “Celebration of Jim’s Life” memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 5, at 11 a.m. at Lakeshore Mortuary, 1815 South Dobson Road, Mesa, Arizona.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to any of the following charities in memory of Jim Missimer: Habitat for Humanity, United Way, American Cancer Society, or any other favorite charitable organization.
He will be sorely missed by his family, friends and colleagues.
