Irene Agnel Hayes

Irene Agnel “Nel” Hayes, 85, of Mesa, AZ passed away on Wed. Nov. 28, 2012. She was born on Dec 20, 1926 in Hammond, IN to loving parents, William A. McClendon and Geneva Bradford-McClendon. Irene was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ulysses Napolean “Nap” McClendon and Milton Wayman McClendon; and her beloved sister-in-law, Ruby McClendon. Irene is survived by her brother William O. (Sylvia) McClendon of Chicago, IL; nephews, Duane (Reba) McClendon of Mesa, AZ; Theodore (Carol Smith) McClendon of Gary, IN; and Dr. Garrard (Quanica) McClendon of Merrillville, IN; three great nephews; four great nieces; one great-great nephew; one great-great niece; and favorite cousin and Bradford family patriarch Woodrow “Woody” Bradford of East Chicago, IN. She is also survived by her dear friend, mentor and entrusted former employer, Dr. Alvin (Janet) Tarlov of Tucson, AZ, and her caretaker and special friend over the final months of her life, Clote P. Morrow of Mesa, AZ. Services will be held on Fri. Dec. 7, 2012, with a Viewing beginning at 10:00am, followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00am, at the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1047 Kenwood St., Hammond, IN, 46320.
