Howard Amos Martin, 81, of Mesa passed away on June 22, 2014. 81 years to the day that he came into this world. Howard was born on June 22, 1933 in Phoenix, AZ, the son of Amos Madison and Grace Eliza (Miner) Martin.
Howard and Lois G. Falconer were married on June 18, 1955. Together they shared 59 wonderful years.
Howard worked for Arizona Public Service for 31 years. He had an early love of all things locomotive (model and full size) which continued through his whole life. He was also an avid photographer, and a prolific wood carver of song birds specializing in hummingbirds. He was involved with the Boy Scouts for much of his life, encouraging his children and grand children in the scouting program.
Howard is survived by his wife, Lois G. Martin; five children, William Martin, Virginia “Ginger” Petry (“Skip”), Mike Martin, Kathryn Pomeroy (Benjamin II), and Kathleen Cruz (Anthony), nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren and one more on the way.
A visitation for Howard will be held on Friday, June 27 from 7-9pm at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Care, 6747 E. Broadway Rd., Mesa, AZ 85206. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 28 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, 1007 S. 72nd St, Mesa, AZ 85208 at 10am with a viewing in the Relief Society Room at 9am. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery in Phoenix.
