Helen S. Sherman, 92, of Mesa passed away November 9, 2014. Helen was born November 11, 1921 in Metropolis, Illinois, the daughter of Raymond and Mabel (Sielbeck) Mitchell.
She was a devoted member of St. John Lutheran Church in Metropolis and joined Epiphany Lutheran Church when she moved to Arizona. Helen was a volunteer and member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Linda Snedeker (Richard); grandchildren, John Vanek, Kelly Smith, Chuck Vanek (Holly) and Lori Ray (Will); great grandchildren, CJ Vanek, Ashley Rice and Halie Kish; sisters, Margaret Mitchell and Rosalie Miller; brother, Jack Mitchell (Peggy). She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles K. Sherman; daughter, Carol Rasmussen; sister, Louise Knapp; brothers, Howard Mitchell, Earl Mitchell, and James Mitchell.
Private services will be held in Illinois at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Helen’s name to Season’s Hospice and Palliative Care, www.seasons.org.
