Gordon Roberts Woolley Jr., beloved husband of Sue Holbert Woolley, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 23, 2013, in Mesa, Arizona at the age of 84. Born on December 23, 1928 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was the fifth child and only son of Gordon R. Woolley and Hazel Lee Woolley. He is survived by his wife, Sue, and 6 children: Laura (Jerry) Berensen, Brett (Shauna) Woolley, Curtis (Susan) Woolley, Kevin (Cydney) Woolley, Chad (Erin) Woolley, David (Jennifer) Woolley, and his sister, Julia W. Smith; 22 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. After serving a 2 ½ year LDS Mission to Finland, Gordon graduated from the University of Utah in accounting and received his M.A. from ASU in School Business Administration. He married Sue Elaine Holbert on July 8, 1955. Immediately after college, he entered the USAF receiving training as a jet pilot. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities including Bishop of the Canyon Crest Ward in Riverside, California. Gordon and Sue spent 58 years together in Arizona, California, and Oregon before retiring to Gilbert, AZ in 2009. He leaves behind a large family and many friends who love and will miss him. Visitation will be Thursday, December 5 from 7-9 pm at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park & Funeral Care, 400 S. Power, Mesa, AZ. Funeral will be Friday, December 6, at 11:00 am at the LDS Redfield Ward, 4629 E. Guadalupe, Gilbert, AZ with a viewing at the church 1 hour prior, at 10 am.
