Georgia Ann Tenberg Landis, 92, of Mesa, Arizona, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on December 11, 2020. Georgia was born in Shiner, Texas on February 28, 1928 to James and Alvina [Hartel] Pesek. She grew up in the Shiner area and graduated from Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio.
She Married James B. Tenberg in 1948 and they made their first home in Beeville, Texas. They lived in various places in Texas before moving to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1960. They were blessed with three children: James Edwin, Rebecca Ann and Georgia Mae. Her husband, Jim Tenberg, passed away in 1983. Georgia married James G. Landis in 2003.
Georgia was a faithful member of the Catholic Church where she served for many years as a Eucharistic minister and CCD President. She was also active in the VFW serving as president of the Auxiliary and the American Legion.
She loved playing cards with her children and grandchildren and playing pool with ‘the guys’. Above all, she loved her family and always made each holiday special for the children and grandchildren. Georgia had a wide circle of friends that she loved spending time with and she truly cared for everyone she met. Her fun and compassionate spirit will be missed by all.
Georgia is survived by her two daughters, Rebecca (Terry) Webster of Irmo, South Carolina and Georgia (Bill) Craw of Layton, Utah; step-son, Timothy (Tim) Landis (Beverly) of Cave Creek, Arizona, Joni Landis of Olympia, Washington; nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Tenberg and James Landis and her son, James E. Tenberg.
Visitation and Rosary will be held Monday, December 21, 2020 from 5 to 7 pm at Mariposa Gardens Funeral Care. A family memorial service and celebration of her life of love and service, will be held Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
