George Robert Johnson

George Robert Johnson, 80, of Mesa, AZ passed away on October 21, 2015. He was born March 5, 1935 in Minneapolis, MN to George O. and Dorothea A. [Narr] Johnson. George served a term in the U.S. Navy as a radioman and was stationed in Hawaii; during his military service, he was also able to see the Taj Majal. Throughout his life George enjoyed collecting coins and stamps, running and was an avid do-it-yourselfer; if he did not know how to do something, he would learn; he would also spend countless hours volunteering with his church. George was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Marshall Johnson and his son Michael Steven Johnson and is survived by his beloved wife of almost 60 years, Carol Anne [Boardman] Johnson; children Sue and her husband Jeff Hastings, Tony Bonacci and his fiancée Tammy Brown, Shari and her husband Jeff Fleck and Paul and his wife Robin Johnson. George is also survived by ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00am, Monday, October 26, 2015 at Love of Christ Lutheran Church, 1525 N. Power Rd in Mesa. Arrangements entrusted to Mariposa Gardens (480) 830-4422
